Rosemead has a variety of parks including Garvey Park which offers a number of picnic areas with barbecue grills. It features a gymnasium, baseball/softball diamonds, two playgrounds, restrooms, and lighted tennis courts. Tennis courts are available to the community on a first-come, first-served basis. Overall, a quiet city with a large population of Vietnamese and Chinese immigrants who have opened many ethnic restaurants to explore.
The only controversy, in recent years, was the opening of a Walmart Supercenter which was vehemently opposed by many residents. Since the opening, the locals have come to accept Walmart and some that I've talked to are enjoying the convenience that it provides.
You can find great housing here with single family home prices hovering just below $400,000 and condos/townhomes selling in the $200,000 to $300,000 range.
