Leave a comment » Pasadena Real Estate Agents are now Held to a Higher Standard - Hooray!New rules and guidelines for ITEC (Pasadena Foothill Association of Realtors)Well, I've written about the lack of photos in our Multiple Listing Service and vented about this issue long enough here and on my other real estate blog - PasadenaViews. Now, I wish I could say that someone has listened at our real estate board, but that's not the case. Fortunately, the implementation of a new system called CARETS and the data integrity issues associated with that system, facilitated this change. As of June 15th, all real estate agents in Pasadena are REQUIRED to have at least one photo uploaded with their home listing. Also, real estate agents are finally required to mark their properties for sale to correctly identify whether or not a home listing is a short sale or a foreclosure. I can't tell you how often, I've shown a home to my home buyers only to find out later on that the home is a short sale and not a regular sale. Oh... and how about the third rule about updating information about a home listing timely. Home buyers want to know whether or not a home is in escrow or sold or had a price red Here's what the Multiple Listing Service Announcement looks like:KEY i-TECH RULES CHANGES
Now if it was me, I'd add some additional rules. Let's see... how about:
I am sure there are quite a few more things that should be disallowed and actually insisted upon. Ultimately, it's what separates a great real estate agent that cares about the homes they sell and their clients from mediocre ones. What do you think? READ MORE:

1 comment » Pasadena Showcase House of Design 2009 is here! This year's Pasadena's Showcase House of Design is in San MarinoActually, this year the Showcase House of Design is in San Marino right on the border of Pasadena and just steps from South Lake Avenue Shopping District. It is truly a magnificent Italian Renaissance Revival estate built in 1917. This gorgeous property was designed by the renowned Pasadena architect G. Lawrence Stimson and has over 10,000 square feet of living space and sits on 2 acres of land. Rumor has it that this estate belongs to one of San Marino's past city mayors. It's a huge honor to have your home selected to be the Showcase Design home. At the same time, it takes a lot of patience on the part of the owner because they have to move out months ahead of time to allow designers the time to work their magic.
It is interesting to note that Pasadena's Showcase House of the Arts is an all volunteer organization with members donating their time and talents since 1948. They originally started out as The Pasadena Junior Philharmonic Committee, and adopted the Pasadena Showcase House of Design as their annual benefit in 1965. It is one of the oldest, largest and most successful house and garden tours in the nation. For more information please visit Pasadena's Showcase House website. I love visiting the Showcase House of Design each year not only to see the amazing transformation and vision of individual designers, but also to visit the shops and restaurant which is catered by Wolfgang Puck. The shops have the most amazing selection of beautiful, hand made gifts - perfect for Mother's Day! I always stop by Wick'd Bean Candle display and load up on my favorite scent - Champagne and Apricot. The Shops and Restaurant at Showcase hours are: Tuesdays 9 am to 5 pm Wednesdays through Friday 9 am to 9 pm Saturdays and Sundays 9 am to 5 pm. Closed on Mondays.
The Showcase House Entry Hours: Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday - 9 am to 3:45 pm Wednesday, Thursday, Friday - 9 am to 7:45 pm Ticket times are scheduled on the quarter hour. Closed on Mondays.
To order tickets, please call 714-442-3872 or visit www.pasadenashowcase.org
Ticket Prices are from $30.

Leave a comment » San Marino California Vote and TreatDo your civic duty and enjoy yummy treats!
I just came back from voting today. My polling place was at the Fellowship Hall in the San Marino Community Church. There were no lines and the process was very organized. The setting of the San Marino Community Church was beautiful so I thought that I'd capture some of these moments on film.
Starbucks and Sierra Cup in Monrovia are giving away free cups of coffee to voters and Ben & Jerry's is giving away free ice cream. So, go out, vote and celebrate with coffee and yummy ice cream! Want to learn more about San Marino California, visit our San Marino City Guide page!

Leave a comment » Halloween is Upon Us...Halloween: What does it have in store for you tonight?
Over the last couple of days, I've been taking long walks around Pasadena and San Marino and looking at all the amazing decorations that are gracing our beautiful homes. It's no small feat to put some of these up. I, for one, am not much for decorating - maybe it's the lack of time or just not enough creativity - I don't know. My decoration was three huge pumpkins (2 of which unfortunately walked away off of my porch a few days ago) and a door hanger. This morning, as I'm watching my kids put together their costumes, get the cookies and cups ready for school parties and talk about this evening's activities, I'm reflecting on how commercialized Halloween is getting. This is not going to be a rant, but out of curiousity, I wanted to look at some Halloween facts as presented by National Retail Federation.
Are folks trying to get away from the economical roller coaster by focusing on Halloween? Is it because, Halloween falls on a Friday this year, that adults are taking more of an effort in decorating and getting ready to celebrate? As my social media buddy, Dave Taylor asks - What will Halloween look like 20 years from now? What are you doing around Pasadena to celebrate Halloween this year? Whatever you do STAY SAFE and HAVE FUN!!! http://www.pasadenacarealestatehomes.com/007723
