Well… I can’t really prove that my post was a catalyst :-) , but as of May 13th, CRISNET MLS implemented the following rule: Important MLS Rule Change New MLS Rule Regarding Photo with Listing Submission: Good for CRISNET! Maybe next time, they will have a minimum of 5 or 6 photos vs. just 1, but one step at a time. PFAR and IMRMLS - are you listening? I think it’s time to implement a similar policy to protect home sellers from flaky real estate agents. http://www.pasadenacarealestatehomes.com/00347E

Comment from: irina.netchaev [Member] Chris, quite frankly I don't understand why it has taken them so long. It just doesn't make sense that most MLS services allow agents to get away with posting listings without any photos. Granted - some of the photos we see are outrageously bad. You have to wonder no photo or a bad photo... what's worse? Thanks for visiting! Comment from: Ted Mackel [Visitor] I understand the need for a mandatory picture as an agent showing property, however, I wish this rule was not enforce here or in Ventura County. 99% of the time the lack of picture is because the agent who has the listing is incompetent. Helping incompetent agents look better only helps them stay in business and harm more people. I believe in the Slow Antelope Theory!!! Even if the home is a disaster, there is no excuse to not have a front photo. Digital cameras are cheap cheap cheap and that is why I can say that an agent who does not take at least one photo and upload it is incompetent. 90% of the listings should have more than 6 pictures and a Virtual tour......right now they don't. Sure there are listings where more pictures show the mess or the deferred maintenance; prescinding those problematic homes, there are too many nice homes that lack the rich media content they deserve, but again I hate to see us help poor agents look better than they really are. Anyone who's home is for sale that is in good condition, clean and clutter free that does not have 10 or more pictures and virtual tour should can their listing agent. Digital photos and virtual tours are very inexpensive these days. With 84% of the buyers searching online first for a home, those listings that lack rich media content are losing out on exposure. Irina, the reason why you excel in this business is that you are a professional and you understand the importance of giving your cleints the best the deserve. Sometimes the best help we can give others is a little tough love. Comment from: Dawn - Pasadena Note Queen [Visitor] Dear Irina, Thanks for leaving a comment recently. It's nice to know that the info on my newish blog is helpful once in a while. I finally figured out that you're the Pasadena blogging queen on Active Rain. Your consistency is impressive, and I can see that you are a fantastic resource for the Pasadena real estate community. I look forward to keeping in contact. And as far as MLS photos go . . . it's really a head shaker when there are photos missing from a listing. Thanks for the update. Comment from: irina.netchaev [Member] Ted, it is a sad state of events when we have to force realtors to put one picture in the MLS. Yikes! I agree with cameras being so cheap, it is inexcusable for realtors not to put multiple photos not to mention video tours. Thanks also for the kind words. :-) Dawn, queen of Active Rain? Too funny! I seriously enjoy your posts and am learning a ton. Would love to meet soon. Let's see if we can set something up.
